Logging in to Your SFCC Online Class?

Image of Blackboard loginEach time you log in, you must use your Student ID (A number) as your User Name. For the password, the first time you log in use sfcc (see New! note below). You will be asked to change the password to one of your own choosing, which you will then use each time you log in after that.

NEW!
Your password is NOT reset to sfcc at the beginning of each semester. Your password will remain the same as it was the previous semester until you change it yourself. For security, a good practice is to change your password regularly, for example, at least once each semester.

Note: Please be aware that the password you create will only work for logging in to your online classes (this password will not work for registering online or for using computers on the campus network).

New Course Management System

If you have bookmarked the WebCT entry page from a previous semester (before spring 2007), it will not work. You must use the "Connect to SFCC Online" link found just above this paragraph. You can bookmark the new Blackboard entry page again. The new SFCC Online address is http://bb.sfccnm.edu

We have upgraded our system to Blackboard CE6. WebCT was recently bought by Blackboard, so you will now see a Blackboard logo.

Problems?

Example of Browser Check button. The most common problem is that you may not have the latest version of Java loaded on your computer. If this is the case, it is necessary that you download the latest version. On the log in page, there is a button to check your browser (see example above). It will also check whether or not you have Java loaded and turned on.

If you do not have Java, you may also get a message letting you know. If you need to download Java (on your home computer) and you use Windows as your operating system, go to the Java Download Page and click the Free Java Download button.

Apple says on their site that Mac OS X has Java already loaded.

If after following all the directions above you still cannot log in, call the HelpDesk at 505.428.1222 or email them at helpdesk@sfccnm.edu. They will either assist you or forward you on to the Distance Learning department.

Getting in to Your Class
You will have access to your class beginning at 9 a.m. on the day your class starts. Check a Course Schedule for that date.

It is wise to get into your course the first day to familiarize yourself with the content and your responsibilities. You will usually find a schedule for the completion of your work.

Time Marches On
Remember that there are usually late-starting classes at SFCC. Check your Course Schedule.
