Library - User Policy: Borrowing Materials
[library home]
Loan periods for books, audio books, music CDs are for 28 days; VHS tapes and DVDs are for 7 days.
At the time of loan, the borrower will be notified of the due date for each item. If you wish to keep them longer, you may renew them. You may renew materials in person, by phone (505 428-1352) or by email. Materials can be renewed up to two times if no one has requested them.
Overdue notices are sent out as a courtesy reminder. Failure to receive an overdue reminder, for whatever reason, does not remove the responsibility of the borrower for returning the materials on time.
The library does not charge overdue fines as long as materials are returned. Long overdue, lost or damaged materials will be billed to your student account. You will not be able to access your student account until the materials are returned or paid for.
A Student ID is required for all checkouts and renewals. GED and ESL students must show a card issued by the Adult Basic Education Department and the library card issued by SFCC Library. ID cards and circulation privileges are not transferable. They are intended for use only by the person in whose name they were issued. Stolen or lost ID cards should be immediately reported to the circulation desk.
Requesting an item be put on hold. A patron who wishes to borrow an item checked out to another patron may request an item be put on hold. When the item is returned, the library will set it aside for them at the library front desk and notify the patron it is on hold for them.
Patrons are responsible for items checked-out on their ID as well as any fees incurred; this responsibility cannot be transferred. For protection, patrons must not lend their ID or borrowed items to others. Also, it is not advisable to depend on others to return items for you. All patrons are responsible for keeping their mailing address current with the library.
