Three Vital Considerations

To decide if distance learning is for you, consider the following issues:

Lifestyle issues address how learning fits into your busy life. Do I have the time and self-discipline to apply myself to the extent necessary for success? What priority do I place on learning at this point in my life? Refer to the top 10 myths of distance learning for more discussion.

Student skills center on reading, writing and communication skills, as well as personal responsibility. Do my reading and writing skills match the requirements of the course? Am I comfortable expressing myself and seeking help when needed? For example, distance learners must assume more responsibility for their learning by taking the initiative for requesting clarification and instructor feedback.

Technical skills include both computer and Internet applications. Am I comfortable using computer software and the Internet? Do I know how to locate, download and install software from the Internet?
