Monique Anair
Faculty, Film and Media Arts

Monique Anair graduated from Emerson College in Boston, MA in 1994 with a bachelor's degree in film & communications. In 1994 Monique began working for Clairmont Camera in North Hollywood, CA and continued for the next 5 years to work as Director of Photography for independent films specializing in extreme sports photography and underwater 35mm motion picture photography.

In 1999 Monique moved to Santa Fe to become Technical Director for the Moving Image Arts Department at the College of Santa Fe. While in Santa Fe Monique has worked as a DP, independent producer/director and editor for many small films including "Road Closed" a horror feature film produced on less than $10,000.

Monique has been at SFCC since 2005 where she helped develop the Film Crew Training Program and works on documentary and experimental films. Monique has studied the Reggio Emillia programs of education and believes strongly in encouraging self motivated learners through interactive democratic classrooms.

Vanja Aljinovic
Adjunct Faculty, Film Program

Vanja Aljinovic is a first assistant director who has worked in filmmaking since the 1960's, studying his craft by apprenticeship in Yugoslavia. Vanja came to New Mexico in 1989 and worked on the Italian film Lucky Luke. Since then, Vanja has worked on numerous films as a first assistant director, including: The War is Over; Dreamland; No Man's Land; Tortilla Heaven and Titus. Vanja has taught pre-production, production and acting for film at the Institute for American Indian Art and at Santa Fe Community College since 2004. He continues to evaluate scripts, develop breakdowns and shooting schedules for movies internationally.

Ethan Bach
Adjunct Faculty, Film and Media Arts

Ethan Bach is a digital video artist, documentary filmmaker, and interactive installation artist. He specializes in video through both traditional and contemporary cutting-edge means. He is interested in expanding on video to include multi-sensory experiences through interactive programming (installation and web based) and single-channel video work.

Ethan Bach holds an MFA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Electronic Arts and a BA from the Evergreen State College in Media Production. His work has shown in venues all over the world including New York, Washington, California, New Mexico, Spain, France, Belgium, and Portugal.

David James Baker, M.A., M.F.A.
Assistant Professor of Film and Media Arts

David teaches independent film production and digital editing courses in the Film Program at SFCC. He serves as a U.S. Liaison for the Cancun International Film Festival http://www.cancunfilmfest.com.mx, where he also serves on the festival's education committee. Prior to joining the faculty at SFCC, David was a visiting professor in the Department of Expressive Arts at Western New Mexico University.

David is the writer-director of "Portraits of the Southwest," a documentary series produced and created by Skyhorse Films for Public Television in Southern New Mexico and West Texas. "Portraits of the Southwest" profiles people and their environments in the American Southwest.

David has worked for a variety of media, technology and public relations organizations including UCLA, the Walt Disney Company, and Colorado Public Radio. He holds a B.A. from the University of Denver, an M.A. from New Mexico Highlands University, and an M.F.A. from New Mexico State University. David is a member of the U.S. Equestrian Federation & the Backcountry Horsemen of America.

Terry Borst
Adjunct Faculty, Film Program

Terry Borst's traditional screenwriting credits include co-credit on the TV movie sequel to the Robert DeNiro film Midnight Run (Midnight Runaround), the independent feature film Private War, and numerous episodes of the BBC action-adventure television series BUGS, syndicated in over 30 countries. He also co-wrote a fantasy/adventure series pilot for the BBC titled The New Adventures Of King Arthur. In addition, he has performed uncredited rewrites on USA Cable movies and independent features, and developed screenplays for the producers of The Hunt for Red October and various independent producers in Hollywood.

Terry also co-wrote the interactive movies Wing Commander III and Wing Commander IV. (The screenplay for III won the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences "Cybie" for Best Writing; the screenplay for IV was nominated for a Computer Game Developers Association Spotlight Award; both games have been honored with numerous awards.) More recently, he co-wrote the screenplay for Microsoft's epic space adventure Freelancer and then wrote the screenplay for Leaders, a Paramount Digital Entertainment R&D videogame set in newly liberated Afghanistan. Much of this work has culminated in his co-authoring the book Story and Simulation for Serious Games for Focal Press.

Recent work includes collaborating on the development of several network interactive TV projects; scripting a fictional electronic social network for testing software data mining; collaborating on the design of a children's serious game; co-scripting a public health serious game; and scripting and collaborating on the design of Fully Involved, a training simulation for firefighters. He is currently co-writing another book about game development.

For more than a decade, Terry wrote a regular column in the Writers Guild trade magazine "Written By." He has taught screenwriting at Moorpark College, The College of Santa Fe, USC's Cinema School, UCLA Extension Writers Program, the Banff Centre for the Arts, and the Santa Fe Screenwriting Conference, and is a frequent guest speaker and lecturer. Katie Douthit
Adjunct Faculty, Film and Media Arts Program

Katie Douthit moved to Los Angeles in 1984, where she received her film and television makeup training from Elegance Academy of Professional Make-Up. At that time she began to work in the film industry. After Katie had her son she felt the need to come back home to New Mexico. In 1994 she joined IASTE local 480, and in 1996 local 706 in Los Angeles. Katie has worked as a licensed hair and makeup artist on over 25 films and television productions here in New Mexico. Her resume of television commercials and print ads shot in New Mexico and California are too numerous to mention. She has been with SFCC since 2005.

Windy Earls
Adjunct Faculty, Film Program

Upon completing the Film Technician Training Program at the Santa Fe Community College, Windy Earls stepped out of the classroom and straight into the production office. She quickly developed her skills with experiences in the production offices of a variety of movies from high dollar, star-studded features like "Appaloosa" to producing low-budget collegiate projects. Starting as an office production assistant, filing for 14 hours a day, she quickly moved up and by her second major motion picture she was working as an assistant production office coordinator. Windy became a member of the I.A.T.S.E. Local 480 Union shortly thereafter.

Despite working 14-hour days in the production office, Windy found the time to produce and coordinate a short film. Concurrently, she returned to the Film Technician Training Program as an instructor. Windy continues to teach and is currently working for Riffraff Entertainment as a new media producer and office manager.

Liam Lockhart
Adjunct Faculty, Film Program

Liam Lockhart received his Bachelor of Arts degrees from UC Berkeley in film theory and English literature, and holds an MFA in production from UCLA's Film School. He has worked professionally as an editor and sound mixer for television programming for the last twenty years. Liam has been nominated for two Emmys for sound mixing, and received the Cinema Audio Society Award for mixing Flight 93.

Liam has also been involved in theatre his entire life, and serves on the Board of Directors at the Santa Fe Playhouse, where he both acts and directs. Along with his eclectic film history/theory classes at SFCC, Liam has also taught film through the University of New Mexico, at the Waldorf School and Santa Fe School for the Arts and Sciences, and drama at Monte Del Sol Charter School. Liam also manages the Film Center, and serves as the film trafficker for the annual Santa Fe Film Festival. Liam has been with SFCC since 2005.

Jonathan Lowe
Adjunct Faculty, Film Program

Since 1983 Jonathan Lowe has been producing film and video projects in many areas of the business. Starting with Jetfighter, a music video he co-created with the band "The 3 O'Clock" in Los Angeles, which played on MTV in 1984, he has gone on to create a very successful video production company - Video Magic, in Santa Fe, NM.

Also a teacher for the past 14 years, Jonathan works as an Artist-in-Residence in New Mexico schools and has taught Filmmaking at IAIA for the past three years. He is well versed with all aspects of digital film production and now has an editing studio near downtown Santa Fe.

For the past few years, Jonathan has worked on many projects, most notably as cameraman for Tangled Up In Bob, (Feido Films), a documentary that covers the early years of Bob Dylan. He is also working on an ongoing documentary about the most recent attempts to discover what really sank the Lusitania, for which he is both cameraman and producer.

Matthew Page
Adjunct Faculty, Film Program

Matthew Page holds a bachelor's degree in Moving Image Arts from the College of Santa Fe where he was the first student in the history of the program to write and direct a feature film before graduating (www.roadclosedmovie.com). Many of his short films have screened and won awards at film festivals nationwide (Third Screen Film Festival, Hollywood First Glance Film Festival, New York City Horror Film Festival).

Matthew is also the founder of Riffraff Entertainment, a new media production company whose past clients include Clorox, Creditcards.com and EngineeringTV.com. Rick Reichman
Adjunct Faculty, Film Program

Rick Reichman graduated from the University of Southern California with an MFA in writing (emphasis in film and television writing). He has sold one co-written screenplay, optioned another, and won such contests as America's Best and the Wisconsin Screenwriting Contest. His first book Formatting Your Screenplay has sold over 13,000 copies and his second book 20 Things You Must Know To Write A Great Screenplay was published in March 2006.

Rick's students have sold to Fox, Warner Brothers, HBO, Showtime, all the major networks, and to such TV shows as "Roseanne," "Home Improvement," "The Nanny," "Cupid," and "Xena, Warrior Princess." His students have also been on the writing staffs of "Buffy The Vampire Slayer," "Family Law," and "Strong Medicine."

Dale Sonnenberg
Adjunct Faculty, Film Program

Dale Sonnenberg is a nationally recognized and honored documentary filmmaker, videographer, editor, mentor and technological innovator whose awards include six regional Emmys; six CPB gold and silver awards and many others. Sonnenberg has shot films for the Discovery Channel; The Learning Channel; and network television.

Recent documentary subjects include water resources in the southwest; heroin addiction in rural New Mexico; children with disabilities, and internationally known artist Delmas Howe.

Jilann Spitzmiller
Adjunct Faculty, Media Arts

Jilann Spitzmiller received her B.A. from Dartmouth College and has been working as a documentary filmmaker for 20 years. Her award-winning work has twice been shown at the Sundance Film Festival and has been broadcast on PBS, Sundance Channel, BBC, Starz/Encore, and around the world.

Jilann began teaching at SFCC in 2008, with prior teaching positions at the College of Santa Fe, University of Redlands and SACI in Florence, Italy. She enjoys working with emerging filmmakers, helping them to find their own artistic voices and stories. She is currently teaching Video Production 1, Digital Editing 2, and Making the Documentary workshops.
