Thinking of re-careering?  Many mature workers are ready for a new direction after a successful career or their circumstances change.  Sponsored by AARP, Samuel Greengard has written a book called Finding the Work You Love: The Essential Guide to Reinventing Your Life.  Click here for his article in the November/December 2008 AARP Magazine.

While 7% of most community college populations have students with advanced degrees, SFCC is unique with 40% of its students having advanced degrees.  Re-careering adults will discover many of the people in the halls they thought were faculty or staff are actually students!

Consider taking a Career Interest Assessment or consulting with Career Services to determine your new direction.  Perhaps you want more education, perhaps you just need to recognize your transferrable skills and develop a plan.  Contact Career Services below.  Services are free to students and community members.

Labor Market Information:

(Though it may not seem like it, this labor market data is up-to-date.  Labor Market projections are long term and do not take into account brief fluctuations like the current economic "downturn" -- or crash, as it feels like to many.  So, though jobs in these "In Demand" areas may not be available at the moment, unless our economy stays in crisis for a while, they are still good bets for long term planning.  Labor Market Anaylists are watching the current economic situation and will be adjusting this data as they are able. --PA, 2/4/09)
