The SFCC Governing Board

The SFCC governing board plays a critical role in setting the course for SFCC's future. The board takes seriously its responsibility to establish the policies and procedures necessary to effectively carry out the college's mission. The five members of the board are locally elected residents whose only interest is to advance the best interests of the students, faculty and staff at SFCC. They deserve our applause.

Dr. Elizabeth Gutierrez, Member, is Director of Policy Development and P-20 Programs for the New Mexico Higher Education Department. She holds a doctorate in Institutional Leadership and Policy Studies. She served as Interim Dean of Continuing Education and Assistant to the President at SFCC from 1997-98.

Ms. Linda Siegle, Chair, is president of a consulting company focused on lobbying the legislature for non-profit agencies and strategic planning. She is a former member of the Santa Fe County Health Policy Commission and has served as chair of various state councils and committees.

Heidi Tilton, Member, President of GROW and SFCC Interim Governing Board Member, is Vice President and Regional Trust Manager at Wells Fargo Bank. Ms. Tilton graduated from the Anderson School of Management at the University of New Mexico with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration. Ms. Tilton joined the Investment Management & Trust department at Norwest (now Wells Fargo Bank) in 1995, and became the Santa Fe trust office manager in 2000. She has earned the designation of Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA) issued by the American Banker’s Association and is currently a member of the Santa Fe Estate Planning Council, and Treasurer of Girls Inc.

Carole Brito, Secretary, currently serves as president and founder of LEAD (Leadership, Education, Assessment and Development) for Excellence. Ms. Brito has thirty years of experience as an educator, kindergarten through graduate level, and retired from New Mexico Highlands University in June 2006. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of New Mexico and a Master of Educational Administration degree from New Mexico Highlands University.

Mr. Bruce R. Besser, Vice-Chair, is a local business professional who previously served as a member of the SFCC Foundation Board. He has been involved with Santa Fe County healthcare issues by serving as the public representative on the oversight committee for the MOA between the County and St. Vincent's Hospital. He has also been involved with the development of the County Health Fair Van program.

Board packets are distributed the Thursday prior to a scheduled board meeting.  The Board Secretary needs all documentation (agenda items with background, PowerPoint presentations, governance group reports/minutes and policies) to be included in the board packet should be received 10-12 days prior to the board meetings.
